I started off in photography doing traditional black+ white portraits in the 90's, and I've never lost my enthusiasm for the stunning silver gelatin prints. Though these days most people prefer the digital, I still have a working darkroom and a traditional hand-colored 1900's portrait can be added on to any shoot for an additional fee.
I have a degree in photography from the University or Southern Maine and had the opportunity to learn from many great artists through their program. I spent 7 years working at a pro-lab printing and perfecting my ability color balance and correct an image. I find that having a print background in black and white carries over to how you edit the digital file. I have a lot of photoshop experience and can do extensive image correction for an additional fee.
I love taking pictures and working with people! I try to turn around all portrait sessions and events within one week, though as most of my clients will tell you it's usually far less than that. I'm usually so excited to see the images I've captured that I can't wait to go through and correct them all. When I'm not taking pictures, I'm a romance novelist... there's nothing better than capturing a happily ever after!
